Sweating is an uncomfortable feeling for all and sundry. Many a times, it becomes a nuisance. Not to forget the body-stench, that can be a result.
Sweating is a phenomenon commonly known as perspiration which is the secretion of body fluids during exercises, anxiety, mental strain, or any other forms of physical exertion which increase the internal body temperature. Fundamentally, sweating is odorless. However, when it comes in contact with the natural bacteria thriving on the skin, the sweat then forms a particular smell due to the chemical reaction. Nevertheless, Sweating is vital for healthy well-being. But it can be problematic when sweating becomes too much. The condition of excessive perspiration is known as Hyperhidrosis, in medical science, which requires some form of instant remedial attention.
Mechanism of the sweat glands: Sweating is the outcome due to the change in the body temperature in relation to sweat glands. Every human bares millions of sweat glands.
The skin is segregated in two different sweat-glands. Eccrine glands lay all over the body discharging at the facade of the skin and the Apocrine glands are located in few specific areas of the body like underarms. The nervous system sends out signals to the eccrine glands for secretion of the fluids, due to the increase in the body temperature while exercising. This secretion on the skin cools the body as it disperses. These fluids comprises of water and sodium chloride and other substances like urea.
Sources of Sweating:
Reasons that cause people to sweat are heavy and laborious exercises of any sort like dancing, work-outs, also emotional imbalance like uneasiness, anxiety or stress, even hot weather conditions. Also, a remarkable detection is the body odor and the excessive sweating depends upon the mood swings of a person due to excitement, anxiety, diet, medical conditions, and hormonal levels. It can also be dependent on the genetic history or hereditary in takes of a person, to sweat heavily on any specific part of your body. Other extraordinary root-causes for sweating too much, depending on an individual, can also be linked to extra intake of caffeine, alcohol, extra intake of spicy foods, malignancy, mild fever due to infections, low blood sugar levels, , withdrawal effect due to sedative and alcohol, medications etc.
Hygiene during sweating:
A quick shower after your work-outs or dance regimes keeps you clean and fresh. Sleeping on clean bed sheets is very essential. During summers, it is critical to supply the body with water to restore the body fluid-loss, due to perspiration.
Cure-analysis for sweating: Reduce the consumption of onions and garlic; they extort the stinking odor to your sweat. Drinking lots of herbal tea mixed together with an Indian herb, Neem helps in lessening of sweat and body odor, and also try out sage leaves which are readily available in most supermarkets. Incorporate a good amount of calcium–rich foods into your diet and reduce the intake of salt. Complex carbohydrates are a complete no-no! Use of good quality antiperspirant can keep you fresh and odorless.
